Full-Stack Developer (Django) – Full-Time, Remote

We are looking for a full-stack developer to join the SageWrite team. The position is full-time and it is fully remote. 

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the SageWrite website and its related services. You will work closely with the CTO of SageWrite and SageWrite’s machine-learning experts to design software architecture that fits both the needs of our users and the requirements of the language models we use.

At SageWrite, we’re on a mission to help researchers do better science and write better articles.

We are an Icelandic AI startup that is developing the first and world’s best text-generation and text-enhancement platform for academic writing. Our platform takes in a rough outline of what researchers want to write and generate the corresponding text for them. 

Research drives progress: our mission is to help researchers spend less time writing their papers, and more time working on perfecting their ideas and research.

As a small, product-focused team, we value resourcefulness, passion and independent thinking. 

Minimum requirements

Technical requirements

  • Proficiency with Python & Django frameworks;
  • Experience working with:
    • Relational Database modelling and data migration (MySQL, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL)
    • Docker Containers
    • Kubernetes Clusters 
    • Rest APIs and Microservices
    • Modern JS, CSS and HTML for the frontend web development (e.g. Angular, VUE JS, React JS, Node JS
    • Code versioning tools such as Git
    • A demonstrated track record of designing and building high-performance applications;
    • Familiarity with writing automated tests;
    • A good understanding of user experience, accessibility and security compliance.

Personal requirements

  • A pragmatic approach to engineering: you can strike a balance between beautiful code and maintainability;
  • The ability to thrive in a remote working environment: you show initiative and can manage your own work; 
  • You believe in the value of scientific research, you have a desire to help researchers get their work published. 

What might distinguish my application?

  • You have experience writing web browser plugins;
  • You have experience with Machine Learning, Deep learning and Serverless platforms.
